"You would make a great choice with McKay Vassaur. We designed our house and utilized the builder's designer to draw up the blueprints. Overall, it went well....we did spent a great deal of time on this phase to ensure we had as many of the details in place as possible: electrical outlets, light switches, exterior faucets, etc---the things that are not easily changed during the building process. We learned, from previous home build, that it is better to spend a great deal of time on the design phase than not have things where you would want them later. Or not having adequate electrical outlets (especially in the kitchen). Considering we built during the pandemic (something I wouldn't recommend 😊 ), and had supply issues that were not the fault of the builder, things went really well. One tip that I would share with you---if at all possible, select as much of your materials, appliances, etc. before you start. Flooring, countertops, tile, plumbing and light fixtures, etc – you are given an allowance and knowing how much you might need to add to your budget will be beneficial. Jeff and his team are very good at communicating throughout the process. In hindsight, we wouldn't have built during a pandemic 😊 There will always be things that we could've done differently, but mostly those are things that you don't know until you are moved in....but because of the amount of time we spent in the design phase, we are quite please with the end result. I highly recommend McKay Vassaur. And, most importantly, he stands behind his work!"
